Andrew Sutton and Rachel Collingwood have recently started eco2oceans, a charity dedicated to the preservation, protection and conservation of cetaceans.
- Our team eco2 have been working in Sri Lanka over a number of years and have discovered a gathering spot for enormous pods of sperm whales ( Physeter macrocephalus) the largest toothed whale. Data is collected each year from this biodiverse hotspot which indicate the peak of the super-pod season is from March-May each year.
- Our team have been conducting workshops with the local boat owners to ensure safe whale watching techniques are followed, when taking tourists out, ensuring the safety and well-being of these magnificent animals.
- Due to Covid19, this year no data was collected on this little-known phenomenon, but the 2021 trip is already in the process of planning. Anyone interested in more information on this project, do get in touch with us at Boalvet.
